Our organic calendula flowers are grown in France Auvergne/Rhône Alps and harvested by end of August, mid-heat of the day, when the flowers are sticky with life and resin. Calendula extracts are produced by the maceration of the dry flowers in vegetable glycerine ensuring the highest concentration in active molecules. The macerate is then grounded, filtered and concentrated at low temperature to maintain its beneficial compounds. Sustainably grown and processed.

Once the rose bushes bloom, which happens once a year from May to June, the flowers are then harvested in the early mornings by hand and steam distilled within 24 hours. One hectare of land can produce 3.5 to 5 tons of flowers, enough to produce about 1 kg of oil. Bulgarian rose is still considered the most prized of all rose oils. 4,000 kg of flowers yields only 1kg of rose oil. It takes 10,000 roses to fill a single 5ml bottle.
